I buy Fusion Cores with the rest of the money. I usually sell all my useless stuff and buy all the ammo I need (I only use 3 types of ammo, Shells, 2mm Cartridge and Missile) so I always keep making caps. Since money is useless and infinite, just buy all the shotgun ammo from traders. Scrounger is a dumb perk, even dumber than nightvision. I had more than 100k caps on my previous playthrough. There is nothing to buy anyway, money is useless in this game. I never ever invested in Scrounger and never had ammo problems. Reasons why I won't use shotguns in Fallout 4.
